Hardware Design Baseline & Specifications

Designed for the vestibule.
Engineered for the shift.

Conventional respiratory protection fails the moment a worker removes it due to heat stress or fatigue. NASO-SHIELD is an intranasal filtration prototype with a reusable structure and replaceable filters.

Technical Anatomy

The NASO-SHIELD Architecture

Bio-Silicone Contact Ring

The contact interface is engineered for the nasal vestibule. Material selection, seal retention and comfort are development targets undergoing biocompatibility and user-fit testing.

Dual-Chamber Reusable Chassis

The medical-grade polymer chassis keeps the mouth, chin, and 95% of facial skin unobstructed, ensuring clear voice communication and zero interference with helmets or eye protection.

Micro-Perforated Filter Core

Replaceable filter cartridges fit securely into the dual chassis chambers, designed for low breathing resistance and efficient multi-shift replacement.

Orientative Model · Target Estimates

Plan the evaluation workload

Conventional masks are frequently removed because of heat buildup, speech restrictions, or bridge friction. Below is an orientative planning model calculating annual shift exposure and estimated consumable savings.

Crew size under evaluation:50 operators
10 pilot crew250 facility500 industrial site
Annual Shift Exposure84,800 h

50 crew × 8h × 212 shifts/year

Target Shift Adherence~85–95%

Design goal vs. ~51% literature baseline

Estimated Waste Reduction~75%

~191 kg plastic saved vs disposable cups

Annual Filter Demand~21,200

Orientative: 2 replacement units / operator / shift
